Help restore the coastal ecosystem by participating in this cleanup at the Bliss Island Nature Preserve!
The Bliss Island Nature Preserve is composed of island habitats containing tidal flats, rocky shores, and wetlands, in the Passamaquoddy Bay, New Brunswick.
This preserve is part of the Whole Quoddy Region, a biological hotspot and proposed Marine Protected Area because it is a common feeding area for marine animals including the endangered North Atlantic right whale and harbour porpoise. Bliss Island is also right next to a Globally Significant Bird Area of the Quoddy Region due to the presence of congregatory species, colonial waterbird/seabird concentrations, and shorebird concentrations.
At this cleanup, teams will work together to identify and remove debris along the shorelines of the preserve. Participants should be prepared for travel by boat, collecting garbage, and some bushwhacking.
More details will be circulated to participants upon registration and in advance of the cleanup event.
This is an outdoor event so please dress according to the weather.
