Help restore the coastal ecosystem by participating in this cleanup at Barnes Island, part of the Western Isles Nature Preserve – A Stewart Family Preserve!
Barnes Island is part of The Western Isles Nature Preserve– A Stewart Family Preserve that consists of several islands east of Deer Island in the Bay of Fundy, outside of the Town of St. George, New Brunswick.
The Western Isles are representative of the general ecology of the Bay of Fundy, lying on an important bird migration route with conditions suitable for the nesting of bald eagles.
At this cleanup, teams will work together to identify and remove debris along the shorelines of the preserve. Participants should be prepared for travel by boat, collecting garbage, and some bushwhacking.
More details will be circulated to participants upon registration and in advance of the cleanup event.
