History
The Hidden Lakes Nature Preserve is within traditional Wabanaki territory.
Ecology
This nature preserve supports a variety of rare and unique forest communities including mature wet cedar forest, mature hardwoods and hemlock, as well as a variety of rich fen and swamp wetlands. These are provincially-significant forest and wetland ecosystems. Owing to the rich limestone-based soil, these habitats support a variety of rare plant communities, as noted in the charts below, and exhibit high species richness as would be expected in this region.
There are several very old sugar maple, yellow birch, hemlock, and cedar trees on the preserve. Two small lakes are found on the preserve which support waterfowl habitat.
Access and Activities
The preserve can be accessed via Route 560 and Good Corner Rd.
*The property is undeveloped and there are a variety of hazards and risks associated with accessing this preserve. While this nature preserve is open for public access, visitors must assume responsibility for their own actions and safety and are to use the land at their own risk.
